The First China Conference on Photobiology (CCPB) will take place in Shanghai on May 23–24, 2026, bringing together leading experts to explore current research and interdisciplinary developments in photobiology.
The conference is chaired by several leading scientists and experts from multiple institutions, including Dr.Wei Zhang, Deputy Director of the China National Lighting Test Centre, Secretary-General of the National Lighting Standardization Technical Committee, and Director of CIE Division 6 (Photobiology & Photochemistry); Prof. Jiucun Wang, the Director of the Department of Human Genetics and Anthropology at Fudan University, and the President of the Shanghai Anthropology Society.
Hosted at the Jiangwan Campus in Shanghai, the conference will focus on key subjects including ocular photobiology, skin photobiology, and cross-disciplinary advances in the field. By fostering dialogue between life sciences, medicine, and lighting research, the event aims to strengthen collaboration and support evidence-based approaches to understanding the effects of light on human biology.
Participation is free of charge, and travel subsidies will be provided for presenters whose oral presentations are accepted. For any interest, please contact CCPB@nltc.cn no later than 31st March, 2026.
CIE President, Dr. Jennifer A. Veitch, would welcome participants in an online video message during the opening ceremony, highlighting the importance of international collaboration in advancing photobiology and strengthening engagement between the global CIE community and partners in China.
A dedicated Q&A session with CIE, under the theme “CIE & China,” scheduled on May 24, will further promote exchange and cooperation. Prof. Minchen (Tommy) Wei, CIE Governing Board member, will join the Q&A session to welcome participants and be there for any questions, representing the CIE Governing Board.
In conjunction with CCPB, CIE Division 6: Photobiology and Photochemistry will hold its 2026 Annual Meeting on Monday, 25 May, 2026.
