
Prof. Luoxi Hao, CIE Vice-President Education, has been elected President of the Shanghai Illuminating Engineering Society. She is also a tenured professor and doctoral advisor at the College of Architecture and Urban Planning at Tongji University.
Established on August 30, 1978, the Shanghai Illuminating Engineering Society is the first lighting society founded in China. It is a professional organization composed of science and technology practitioners in the lighting field and serves as a home for lighting professionals. The Society has long been committed to advancing innovation in lighting technology and promoting industry exchange. By the end of 2024, its membership exceeded 1,100, comprising leading enterprises and experts in lighting design, luminaires, light sources and electrical components, and photometric testing.
Under Prof. Hao’s leadership, the Society will continue to carry out public science outreach, continuing education and training, high-level academic exchanges and collaborations, and journal publication. She will also work to strengthen domestic and international engagement, support the cultivation of scientific and technological talent, and inject new momentum into the sustainable development of the lighting industry.
