CIE and LUCI Strengthen Collaboration With Revised MoU

CIE aims to strengthen its collaboration with urban lighting networks and promote sustainable, science-based urban lighting practices worldwide. In this context, the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) and LUCI (Lighting Urban Community International) Association signed a revised Memorandum of Understanding on Thursday, 26 February, during the LUCI Cities and Lighting Summit in Oulu, Finland.

The agreement builds on an existing partnership and reinforces the long-standing collaboration between CIE Division 4: Transportation and Exterior Applications and LUCI’s urban lighting network. While it formally covers both organisations, it is particularly relevant to Division 4, given LUCI’s focus on outdoor and urban lighting.

LUCI brings a strong and diverse community of city departments, governance bodies, and industry partners, providing a valuable connection for Division 4’s work. By linking CIE’s scientific guidance, standards, and models with LUCI’s practical applications, the MoU ensures continued exchange of expertise and feedback, enhancing both organisations’ capacity to promote sustainable and well-informed urban lighting practices worldwide.

We are happy to further strengthen this collaboration and look forward to continuing to work closely with LUCI.
