Associate National Committee (ANC) membership provides a pathway towards full CIE National Committee membership for countries where no CIE National Committee or Associate National Committee currently exists. It enables organisations with an interest in the field of light and lighting to become involved in the CIE community, participate in its activities and develop the foundations for future national representation.
An Associate National Committee serves as an initial step towards establishing a full CIE National Committee. During this period, it can engage with the CIE’s international network, contribute to the technical work of the Commission and support the development of connections among national experts and stakeholders in light and lighting.
Associate National Committees do not have voting rights in technical, administrative or organisational matters of the CIE. However, their members may participate in CIE activities, contribute their expertise to technical work and stand for election within the organisation.
Associate National Committee membership is normally granted for a period of four years. Depending on the circumstances, the Governing Board may renew the membership for an additional four-year period. An Associate National Committee may apply to become a full CIE National Committee at any time during this period, once the requirements for full membership are fulfilled.
