1 Divisional Meeting 2000
Our Divisional 5 meeting will be held from 3 - 8 September 2000 in Toronto, Canada, partly jointly with Division 4. For details and registration form click here on Div 5 meeting.
2. Roster
The new Roster, dated February 2000, has been sent to all division members.
Since Warsaw we have new members from Austria, Brazil, Finland and Russia.
Please check your own details and advise the Secretary of any corrections required, also of any more E-mail
addresses.
3. Working Programme
New TCs
Following the agreement of the CIE Board the following TC has been officially established:
TC 5.19 Emergency Lighting (Chair: B. Weis, DE)
New Reporters
R 5.10 Glare Evaluation in Sports Lighting (K.Kawakami, Japan)
R 5.11 Modelling for Sports Lighting (T. Lemons, USA)
4. News on TCs.
TC 5-09 Illuminance levels for Sports Events
The Chairman, has not yet received a copy of the CEN Sports Lighting report or
any comments to the first draft of his proposed Sports Lighting Illuminance Standard that was distributed
in Warsaw.
TC 5.12 Obtrusive Light
Comments on the 4th Draft have
been received from Japan and The Netherlands. A "final" draft will now be prepared and sent
out to Committee members April/May. It is hoped that by the meeting in Toronto the document will be ready
for Divisional voting and publication.
TC 5.14 Maintenance of Outdoor Lighting Systems
No further comments
have yet been received on Draft 5(a). A further, hoped for final draft is therefore being prepared.

TC 5.16 Exterior Security Lighting of Private Properties
The membership list has now been confirmed and work on the first draft is expected to start shortly.
TC 5-17 Standardisation Format for Sports Guide
The Chairman has received only one reply to the first draft of the Standardisation Format for
Sports Guide that was distributed in Warsaw.
TC 5-19 Emergency Lighting
The Chairman has received offers of membership from:
Atsuko Tanaka (Japan),
Nick Barnsey/Warren Julian (Aus), Bill Buckson (USA), Chris Watts (UK-CEN).
The Chairman has also had contact with LUMEX-IEC
5. News from Reporters
R 5.10 Glare Evaluation in Sports Lighting
A further version of paper presented in Warsaw by the Reporter Kohji and his
colleagues, entitled "Applicability of CIEGlare (GR) Evaluation System for Outdoor Facilities
to Indoor Sports Facilities" has been received by the Division. It has been published by the
Illuminating Engineering Institute of Japan, (in English) in J. Light & Env. Vol. 23 No.2.
Comments on this, or any other research on the subject, should be sent to the author for his Divisional
Report in September. If members cannot acquire their own copies of this Paper via the Internet, please
contact the Secretary.
R 5-11 Modelling for Sports Lighting
Tom has so far received material from Japan, about "Modelling in Sports Lighting" which relates to lighting for colour TV. Any further material is urgently requested for his Report to the September Divisional meeting.
