Ad-hoc meeting on photometry of white LEDs (Y Ohno)

At the last IEC TC34 meeting in October 99, proposals were made from Japan to develop IEC standards on:

  1) White light LED's for general lighting services

  2) Photometry of white light LED's for general lighting services

Liaison to Div. 2 is requested from IEC TC34. We will invite K Kohmoto, representing the Japanese proposer, and will hear the details of the proposals and discuss what actions to be taken by Division 2, in relation to our existing TCs (2-45, 46, 50). The meeting is primarily for the members of LED-related TCs, but open to anybody interested.
An email reflector (cie2-led@nist.gov) has been set up for on-line discussions.

Ad-hoc meeting on photometry of emergency lighting and signaling (G Vandermeersch)

At IEC TC34D meeting in January 2000, it was claimed that CIE has not produced any work in this field though the IEC standard 598-2-22 "Emergency luminaires" (recently published) refers to CIE for photometric test methods. G Vandermeersch, who attended the TC34D meeting, will present the details (including existing standards in IEC, CEN and ISO, work by Div 5 TC19, and use of LEDs in emergency signalling). The meeting is open to all. Anybody dealing with this area are requested to attend.
